At the weekend, hot on the heels of a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari by Atiku Abubakar and other opposition leaders, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje paid a well-publicised visit of his own.
Oga Chairman, which visit again? Were you not the one who described Buhari as Habu Na Habu in 2022, when he was about to scatter APC over the choice of its presidential candidate? For youngsters who do not know, Oga Ganduje borrowed the phrase from the late Hausa music legend Alhaji Mamman Shata’s song, Garba Jikan Garba, Habu Na Habu. In it, Shata told the story of how, after Eid el Kabir in 1964, Garba Jikan Garba and himself organized a picnic on the Katsina to Daura road, by a stream, on its sandy beaches, under Deleb palm trees [Giginya].
There were city men and women, cigarette and beer. When Habu got drunk, he began to mess up, kick one picnicker, shove another picnicker. Shata pleaded with him not to scatter the picnic which he organized, but a drunk Habu went on and scattered the picnic.
