A vigilante group in Zamfara State, on Friday killed scores of suspected bandits in Dansadau market.
The development comes hours after the state Governor Bello Matawalle suspended the district head of Badarawa in Shinkafi emirate, Surajo Namakkah, for conferring a title on a military officer arrested for allegedly selling ammunition to bandits.
Sources said the vigilante group from Ruwan Tofa and neighbouring villages invaded the market and killed the bandits in retaliation for the killing of three farmers in Ruwan Tofa on Thursday.
The spokesman of the state police command, Muhammad Shehu, is yet to confirm the incident.
A resident told 21ST CENTURY CHRONICLE that the market has been deserted after the incident for fear of possible retaliation by the bandits.
