A victim of suspected organ harvesting, Alhaji Ibrahim Ejibade, a resident of William Street in Jos North local government area of Plateau State, has passed on.
The late Ajibade was accusing Mr Norah Kekere of Murna Clinic and Maternity, Jos, of having stolen his kidney.
The late Ejibade’s family said their brother suffered hernia in 2021, which led to a surgery carried out by Kekere.
In September 2023, the late Ejibade alleged that Kekere removed his right kidney, which led to the arrest of Kekere after a report was lodged at the Nasarawa Gown Police Division regarding the removal of Mrs. Kehinde Kamal’s right kidney during an operation in 2018.
The Plateau State Ministry of Justice on behalf of Ejibade and Kehinde Kamal, sued Kekere at the state High Court accusing the same doctor of organ harvesting.
Ejibade’s son, Muhammad Sani, said their father died on Wednesday evening and had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
“Baba’s illness continued unabated since his surgery at Murna Clinic. You know, we discovered that his left kidney was removed when we went to Jos University Teaching Hospital for scanning following the surgery by Mr Kekere, and the matter is still pending in court,” Sani said.
Sani said even on the last adjourned date of the court proceedings, Ejibade managed to appear despite his failing health.
Kekere and his two suspected accomplices, Dr Philip Dachung and a staff of Murna Clinic, Yusuf Abduallahi, are standing trial and have since been granted bail.
