A veteran Nigerian journalist and editor, Mallam Abdulhamid Babatunde, is dead.
He died in Kaduna at the age of 66.
Mr Babatunde died in his sleep on Wednesday’s night at his residence in Kaduna, according to PRNigeria.
The veteran journalist lost his wife last month, it was learned.
He was born on February 26, 1956.
He was educated at Kaduna Capital School, before proceeding to Barewa College Zaria and Government Secondary School Ilorin.
Mr Babatunde joined New Nigerian Newspapers in Kaduna, in 1974.
in 1988, he became editor at Democrat newspaper Kaduna until 1997 when he went into media consultancy.
The veteran journalist was an alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos and fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
He served as Secretary of the Jokolo Committee set up by then President Olusegun Obasanjo, in 1999.
He is survived by four children – Ahmad, Maryam, Halima and Abdulhamid.
