The management of Veritas University, Abuja, has said it was investigating video footage that showed a lecturer of the school shaving the hair of a student in a classroom.
The university disclosed this through its spokesperson, Evelyn Obekpa, on Wednesday.
A viral video had revealed a yet to be identified lecturer of the university shaving the hair of a male student with scissors in a classroom.
It was not clear why the lecturer took that decision.
The university has vowed to investigate the situation.
Obekpa said, “We are aware of the video, however, we are investigating the incident.”
University teachers are notorious for shaving the heads of some of their students in classrooms.
A lecturer at the Enugu State University of Technology, in January 2020, was caught on camera shaving the hair of a male student with a razor blade.
Another video of a lecturer at the Kogi State University surfaced online in June 2021, moving around the campus and shaving the hair of some male students which he deemed inappropriate.
