Vandrezzer Football Club says the club’s management has decided to withdraw from any further activities with the Nigeria National League.
The club disclosed this on Thursday on its social media handles and website.
“On our matchday 4 against Osun United in Osogbo, hoodlums attacked our cameramen, vandalized cables, intimidated players and officials of our team, including the appointed match officials and prevented further recording,” it said.
Immediately after the game a letter was submitted to the NNL on the matter and Osun United FC was banished to Ilorin, the result of the match was cancelled and scheduled for a replay.
Osun United FC was penalised and asked to bear the costs of the vandalised items of the club. The decision was later reversed and the result of the match was accepted as against the decision earlier made. Three points were later handed back to Osun United.
The club was displeased with this decision by making an appeal to the organisers of the league, but nothing is heard till date.
In week six in Calabar, Rovers FC refused to allow the club’s media into the U. J. Esuene stadium with more than two cameras until a directive from their State Government compelled them to do so. In Omoku, the General Manager of Go Round FC, Soni Ubo insisted that Vandrezzer FC must make a payment of One million Naira only before we could be allowed into the stadium to live stream the match.
“Our officials are violently intimidated at match locations which all of these have been communicated to the COO of the league Emmanuel Adesanya with no action taken,” said Vandrezzer FC. “The decision to withdraw from NNL is very tough for the club but it has to be made. It is indeed a dark day for Nigerian football.”
