Bandits on Tuesday abducted the Emir of Bungudu in Zamfara state, Hassan Atto, on his way to Abuja.
The monarch was kidnapped along Kaduna – Abuja highway.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the monarch was coming from Zamfara state to Abuja when the assailants struck.
The emir was driving in a car with his police orderly, and a driver when the incident happened.
The police orderly was also abducted, according to family sources.
The emir, it was gathered, has a wife in Abuja.
“The emir was in Abuja at the weekend. He travelled back to Gusau using the Abuja- Kaduna train on Sunday,” another source said.
Kaduna -Abuja highway has been a hub of kidnappers who attack and abduct motorists.
Another family source, Ibrahim Bello, also confirmed the monarch’s abduction to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE Tuesday evening.
“Yes, it’s true. He (the emir) was kidnapped along Kaduna- Abuja highway immediately after Olams Farm,” Mr. Bello said.
A senior special adviser to Zamfara governor, who pleaded anonymity, said the monarch was abducted alongside his orderly, a policeman.
The emir was the Secretary Government of the Zamfara State during Governor Abdulaziz Yari’s tenure before he was turbaned the Emir of Bungudu.
