Kano State House of Assembly has set up a panel to investigate the suspended the chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCAC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.
The lawmakers suspended the anti-graft chief for 30 days during plenary on Monday to give way for investigation.
The House appointed the House Committee Chairman on Public Complaints, Umar Musa Gama, to head the investigation.
The committee has two weeks to submit its report.
Members of the panel are chairman House committee on judiciary, Lawan Shehu; chairman House committee on public accounts, Salisu Ibrahim Doguwa; House committee chairman on finance, Magaji Dahiru Zarewa; and chairman House committee on hajj, Sale Ahmad Marke.
The panel has deputy director, legal as secretary and secretary, public account committee as co-secretary.
Rimingado, last week, said the office of the Accountant-General lacks the power to appoint an accountant for the commission.
This followed a letter of complaint against him sent to the house by the Office of the Accountant General of the state.
Our reporter gathered that the letter revealed that the chairman appointed a Grade Level 4 officer as accountant of the commission which is contrary to state law.
