The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has presented menstrual hygiene kits, text books, first aid gabs, and security alarm bells to some selected schools in Kano.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Chief of UNICEF Office Kano Mr Rahama Rihood Mohammed Farah stated that UNICEF ‘s support to governments to provide basic education is aimed at helping children to attain their full potential.
He explained that under the Girl’s Education Project (GEP3), UNICEF supported the training of school-based management committee members, teachers, and pupils in Kano and Katsina states on school safety and early warning systems adding that the presentation is a form of building on the ongoing support to education.
In his address the Executive Chairman (EC) Kano SUBEB Dr Danlami Hayyo commended UNICEf its their efforts in educational sector development. Represented by the commissioner 1 in the board Alhaji Kabiru Ahmed, the EC urged all beneficiaries of the items to effectively utilize it to serve the purpose the items were meant for.
