President Yoweri Museveni took an early lead in Uganda’s presidential election, according to preliminary results released Friday morning by the electoral commission.
This is even as his main rival, Bobi Wine, said he had proof that the poll had been marred by fraud.
With 29.4 per cent of votes from Thursday’s ballot counted, Museveni had won 1,852,263 votes, or 63.9 per cent while main opposition candidate Bobi Wine had 821,874 or 28.4 per cent, the commission said just after 11.00 a.m.
