A mining site has collapsed killing two villagers at Ika-Ogboyoga in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi state at the weekend.
The victims simply identified Amodu and Attah. died on Saturday at about 04:20 pm when the mining site collapsed.
Following this development, the state Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu has directed that illegal mining should stop in the state.
Gegu also ordered that all legal operators should henceforth register with the Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural resources ascertain the genuine miners and enhance peace and criminal-free sites.
He warned that erring mining operators would be banned if the disregard the directinve to register with relevant authorities.
The deceased had been buried following Islamic laws.
