Two police officers and two civilian officials in the convoy of the newly appointed Chief of Staff to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Ben Nwankwo, had been killed on Sunday night in Anambra State
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the gunmen ambushed the convoy and fired at them along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road in Orumba South Local Area of the state.
It was learnt that the new CoS was inside the convoy during the attack.
The state police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, was yet to respond to enquiry on the attack.
But the state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has confirmed the attack, saying the State Government was shocked by the attack on the convoy of the chief of staff.
Mefor said the CoS was returning from an assignment when the attack happened, adding that “this was more than an attack on one person. It was an attack on the peace, security, and democratic order of our state, as well as the government and people of Anambra.
“Sadly, four people lost their lives and deserve justice,” he said, adding that state government has condoled with the families of those killed in the attack.
“The police and other security agencies are working to find and to bring everyone involved in this evil act to justice,” he assured.
