Two bandits and a civilian have been confirmed dead following an attack by a terrorists in Gidan Soda village of Dandume local government area of Katsina State on Wednesday, the police said.
Around 12:00am on Wednesday, terrorists stormed Gidan Soda on motorcycles, shooting sporadically and killed a woman named Hassana.
Some of the community members quickly reached out to the policemen and other security agents stationed in Dandume town, the local government headquarters, who mobilised to the community.
“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO quickly mobilised operatives, who, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), responded to the scene. The team engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, successfully foiling the attack as the hoodlums fled the scene due to superior firepower,” the police public relations officer in the state, Abubakar Sadik Aliyu said in a statement.
“While scanning the scene, the bodies of two (2) neutralised suspected bandits and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered from the scene. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds,” he added.
Abubakar said the police in the state would continue to collaborate with other security agencies in the state towards ensuring safety and security throughout the state.
