One suspected kidnapper was killed, another one fataly injured during a rescue operation jointly conducted by the police, military and vigilantes in Sokoto state on Wednesday.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, the Sokoto state Police Commissioner, Hayatu Kaigama said on May,29, 2024 police operatives from Yabo Division in conjunction with Military and Vigilante Group, while acting on credible information went for a rescue operation.
“The team went to the scene around Binji axis from where they traced footprints towards a forest.
“Where the suspected bandits/kidnappers were traced and routed which resulted to subsequent rescue of three victims.
“ One suspect was neutralized and another one was fatally injured while 10 rounds of live ammunition, twp solar panel, one Tecno Mobile phone and blanket were recovered at the scene,” Kaigama Said
A legal practitioner in the state, Barrister Rukayya Mustapha was among the rescued victims.
Rukayya was abducted along with one Salim Abdussalam at her residence at Badon Runjin Area in Sokoto.
