Troops and Special Forces operating under Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) have conducted special fighting patrols in the Kachia-Kajuru axis, successfully neutralizing five bandits in the Dantarau general area of Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA).
According to operational feedback provided to the State Government, the troops also conducted operations to clear the Maro-Enugu axis spanning Kachia and Kajuru LGAs.
Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed these details in a statement issued on Sunday.
He stated that the troops engaged with the bandits at Dantarau community, resulting in the neutralization of five criminals after a sharp exchange.
“The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated sub-machine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radio sets,” he added.
Aruwan further mentioned that the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully targeted bandits’ camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji general area of Igabi LGA.
He said Credible human intelligence sources confirmed the success of the operation, resulting in the elimination of several bandits.
He also noted that some of the bandits sustained injuries and are believed to be lurking in the general area in need of medical support.
He warned the Local residents against providing medical assistance to suspicious individuals without informing the nearest security agencies.
Upon receiving the feedback, Governor Uba Sani expressed satisfaction with the breakthrough and commended the troops, led by Major General MLD Saraso, for their determined efforts.
He also extended commendation to Air Vice Marshal NN Ananaba and his team for their outstanding contribution to the state’s security. The Governor urged the military to maintain the momentum of operations.
