At least 30 vigilantes have been killed by bandits in a fresh attack in Zamfara state.
Witnesses said the incident occured in Gidan Dan Inna community of Auki district, Bungudu Local Government Area of the state.
The bandits stormed the communities to rustle cattle, it was learned.
The vigilantes, popularly known as Yan Sakai, had mobilised from neighbouring communities to repel the rampaging bandits.
Another witness said it was during that encounter that the bandits gunned down over 30 security volunteers.
There was no immediate comments from the spokesperson of Zamfara police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, over the incident.
