A boat ferrying more than 100 passengers has capsized mid way on Benue river on Saturday.
The victims were traders, women and children, going Binnari town in Karim-Lamido local government area of the state were on the ill-fated boat.
Most of the passengers were returning from a fish market in Mayoreneyo in Ardo-Kola LGA.
The boat capsized 40 minutes after leaving Mayoreneyo local jetty at about 3.30pm.
A local of Mayoreneyo, Musa Mayoreneyo, revealed that the boat had earlier conveyed the passengers from Binnari to Mayoreneyo.
Only bodies of two persons were recovered by local divers so far.
It was learnt that no passenger had life jacket on when the accident occurred.
Acting chairman of inland water transporters in Taraba state, Jidda Mayoreneyo, revealed that 15 bodies had recovered close to the scene.
The Chairman of Ardo-Kola Caretaker Committee, Alhaji Dalhatu Kawu, described the accident as tragic.
