Two members of the South African U-23 football team, Thabiso Monyane and Kamohelo Mahlatsi, have tested positive for coronavirus.
The team’s video analyst, Mario Masha, also tested positive for the virus on Saturday, according to a statement by the South Africa’s Football Association.
The trio have been removed from the Olympic Village and put in an isolation, with only five days remaining before the games start.
The South African footballers were the first athletes in the Olympic Village to test positive for COVID-19.
The statement said squad members who tested negative twice were being monitored closely by the local health authorities.
