The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has won in Kogi State based on the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the last Saturday election.
The state’s INEC returning officer, Professor Wahab Egbenwole, said in Lokoja on Tuesday that Tinubu polled 240,751votes to beat PDP’s Atiku Abubakar who scored 145,104 votes.VDO.AI
He said of the 484,884 voters for the election in the state, 476,038 cast their votes, and that 456,790 votes were recorded as valid votes while 19,248 votes were rejected in the process.
Tinubu won in 15 local government areas: Mopa/Muro, Kogi, Kabba Bunu, Ijumu, Igala/ Mela and Yagba West, Olamaboro, Ofu ,Yagba East, Dekina, Ankpa, including Lokoja, Okene and dah and Ajaokuta, While Atiku won in six local governments of the state: Ogori Magogo, Adavi, Bassa, Ibaji, Okehi and Omala.
Also, the presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr Peter Obi, has silenced the governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, Prof Obiora Okonkwo and Andy Uba Anambra State.
Obi beat Atiku Abubakar, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to which Soludo belongs, and the APC in the state by a wide margin.VDO.AI
None of the party got up to 10,000 votes in the election.
The collation officer in the state, Prof. Nnenna Oti, said Obi scored 584,621 votes.
The PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, scored 9,036 votes while Prof Peter Umeadi of APGA got 7,388 votes.
Labour Party won overwhelmingly in Aguata Local Government Area, the home town of governor Charles soludo.
