National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, has dismissed concerns over his health, saying he is fit enough to lead the country as it’s president in 2023.
He made the clarification during his visit to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo in Osun State, on Friday.
He said “I didn’t apply for a job of bricklayer. The job I’m applying for requires brain. I’m not sick. I only repaired my knee.
“I’m not applying for relay race and I’m not a horse. I have the quality to serve and make Nigeria great. I want to serve my country. I have the brain.”
The former Lagos State governor was in the United Kingdom for over three months in 2021 amid speculations of deteriorating health.
However his aides debunked the news, saying he only underwent surgery and therapy for a knee injury.
He returned to the country in October of the same year and travelled to some parts of the country to meet some stakeholders over his political ambition.
In January 2022, he traveled to United Kingdom again and returned early February, fueling another round of speculations of ill-health, which his media aide, Tunde Rahman described as frivolous.
On Thursday, visited the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi as part of the ongoing familiarisation visits to traditional rulers in Southwest over his 2023 presidential ambition.
He had earlier visited the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, at his palace in Oyo, and the Olubadan designate, Lanre Balogun, at his residence in Ibadan.
