President Bola Tinubu has condemned the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, over the weekend, describing the act as a coward action.
Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday said the President expressed anguish over the attack and mourned those killed in the incidents .
The statement partly reads “the President mourned those who lost their lives, describing the attack as cowardly.”
He said the President has ordered security agencies to intensify efforts in flushing out remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents, who he said now target civilians in soft locations.
“He urged security agencies to double their efforts in routing remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents who resort to attacks on soft targets as a diversionary tactic,” the presidency added.
Tinubu also extended his condolences to the government and people of Borno State and directed the National Emergency Management Agency to support survivors.
“President Tinubu condoled with the government and people of Borno State over the incident and directed the National Emergency Management Agency to support survivors,” Onanuga said.
In a related development, the President also sympathised with the victims of Saturday’s explosion in Kano State.
The explosion, which occurred at a scrap metal factory, affected 15 people, with five confirmed dead.
“Meanwhile, the President has sympathised with the families of those killed or injured by an explosion on Saturday morning in Kano,” the statement added.
Tinubu also stressed the need for safety protocols and accountability, ”and tasked relevant government institutions with investigating the incident.”
