President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of the Emir of Zurmi, Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Bello Sulaiman.
The Emir died on Monday, five years after ascending the throne.
Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday said Tinubu extended his condolences to the late traditional ruler’s family, the Zurmi Emirate Council, the Zamfara State Government and people, as well as the traditional institution in Nigeria.
Tinubu said Sulaiman was a respected emir who led his people with wisdom, dignity and commitment during a challenging period.
The president said the late Emir was courageous in leadership and guiding the Zurmi Emirate through security challenges while promoting peace, unity and resilience among his people.
The statement quoted the President as saying, “His Royal Highness was a stabilising figure whose wise counsel and dedication to peace-building were invaluable not only to Zurmi Emirate but to Zamfara State and our nation’s efforts to restore lasting peace in the North-West.”
Tinubu prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the late Emir’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
He also prayed for comfort and fortitude for the family, the emirate and all those mourning the deceased monarch.
