President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and unity across the country.
He made the call while consoling the family of the late President Shehu Shagari over the death of his wife on Sunday.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu described her passing as a “great national loss,” adding that her life embodied humility, service, and dedication.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her soul and for her admission into Jannatul Firdaus.
Tinubu also prayed for strength for the Shagari family, the government, and the people of Sokoto State to bear the loss..
Responding on behalf of the family, the eldest son of the late former President and District Head of Shagari,Capt. Bala Shagari (rtd), expressed gratitude to the President for the visit and prayers.
He also thanked Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for covering the medical expenses of their late mother and for his continued support to the family.
Governor Aliyu, who received the delegation, thanked President Tinubu for honoring the family with the condolence visit.
