President Bola Tinubu has condemned the attempt to assassinated former United States President, Donald Trump.
In a statement he personally signed on Sunday, Tinubu said the attack againat Trump was distasteful and was beyond the pale of democratic norms
He said violence has no place in democracy and wished the former US President a quick recovery.
“I extend my sympathies to the former President and wish him relief. I also condole with the family of the deceased and those wounded and wish them a quick recovery.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time,” the statement said
The Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that 20-year-old Thomas Crooks was behind the assassination attempt in the process of which he killed one while two others sustained injuries.
The Secret Service said the shooter committed the act from “an elevated position outside the rally” before being “neutralised” by agents.
Trump escaped by the whiskers as bullets hit him by his ears, saying, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.”
Trump was shot at during a political rally on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Pennsylvania, US.
