Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday reiterated the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to supporting manufacturing industries in the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Shettima stated this during a facility tour of the Mamuda Group Beverages Nigeria Ltd., at Challawa Industrial Estate in Kano State.
The Vice-President said the Federal Government would deepen its partnership with the Kano State government towards enhancing an enabling environment for businesses in the state.
“The management and staff of the Mamuda Group, we are here to celebrate success. We are here to identify with resilience. We are here to promote sustainability and progress.
“The Mamuda Group is the largest employer of labour in Northern Nigeria. 13,000 employees, and with upcoming developmental initiatives it will reach 23,000.
“We want to commend you. The President speaks your language, the language of commerce, the language of business.
“Be rest assured that in the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda, we will partner with the manufacturing sector to further reposition the Nigerian economy,” he said.
Shettima said he had a fruitful discussion with Alhaji Aminu Abdulsalam, the Deputy Governor of Kano, on how the state government would address the infrastructure deficit the company was facing.
“In terms of infrastructure, I had discussions with Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam on our way here and he promised to take up the issue of infrastructural deficit you are facing in terms of access roads.
“You have 31 megawatts, very few states in the North get 31 megawatts. But your organisation single-handedly developed your own outside power plan and it is commendable and worthy of emulation,” said the Vice President.
He said the President specifically requested to be updated on the stride recorded by Mamuda Group, “he said go and visit them, inspire them and reassure them of Federal Government’s support.
“In Nigeria, in Africa he who employs 13,000 people is invariably impacting on 130,0000 lives.
“This is why we are here with the Deputy Governor of Kano, with the Director General (DG), with the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).
“Come to Abuja, continue the conversation with the NIPC, with the Export Promotion Council and be rest assured that the government will give you full backing to accomplish your dreams,” said Shettima.
He thanked the government and people of Kano for creating the enabling environment for businesses to flourish.
According to him, there can never be development without peace, and there can never be peace without development.
Earlier, Hassan Hammoud, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company, commended the leadership and vision of President Bola Tinubu.
“The last couple of years have been undeniably challenging for our nation, with economic turbulence testing industries and individuals alike.
“However, thanks to the steadfast efforts of the Federal Government; under your guidance, we are now witnessing signs of recovery and renewed hope for a brighter future.
“Your presence here today reaffirms the government’s commitment to supporting industries like ours which are the backbone of national development.
“With over 13,000 employees, we are not just a company but a community that takes pride in uplifting lives and building a stronger economy,” he said.
Hammoud appealed to the Federal Government to continue to enact favourable policies that enabled industries to thrive.
He also sought government support in areas such as taxation, infrastructure and financing.
