President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstruction of three major federal roads in Niger, totaling 306.5 kilometres.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this known in a statement signed by Mr Francis Nwaze, his Senior Special Assistant on Media,on Thursday in Abuja.
Umahi listed the approved roads to include: Mokwa–Bida Road (120km), Mokwa–Makeri Road (63km), and Bida–Lambata Road (123.5km) totaling 306.5 kilometres.
He said the projects would be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavements to ensure durability and long-term value, reflecting the administration’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure nationwide.
In addition,he said, Tinubu had approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny road to connect with the East–West Road in Rivers.
“The project will be executed on a dual carriageway capacity, constructed with concrete pavement, and equipped with solar-powered street lighting.
“The project will be delivered through a competitive bidding process,”he said.
Umahi expressed deep appreciation to the president for the strategic approvals, noting that the projects fell within critical national economic corridors and would significantly enhance connectivity, trade, and development.
He called on Nigerians to acknowledge and appreciate the administration’s sustained commitment to infrastructure development across the six geopolitical zones, particularly in the delivery of quality roads and bridges nationwide.
The minister congratulated the Governors and good people of Niger, Rivers, as well as all Nigerians who stood to benefit from these landmark approvals.
He urged Nigerians to continue to support, encourage, and pray for the president as the administration remained focused on delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
