Security operatives on Friday repelled gunmen attempt to disrupt the sitting of Edo State governorship election petitions tribunal at the state’s High Court Complex on Sapele Road, Benin.
It would be the second time gunmen tried to stop the tribunal from sitting.
On Wednesday, security operatives stopped thugs from disrupting the tribunal from sitting.
The thugs tried to forcefully gain entry into the venue of the sitting of Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led three-member Edo tribunal, but the security personnel repelled them.
Ad at press time, no words yet from either the police or the two political parties the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allah Progressives Congress (APC) as well as the remand.
The PDP and its governorship candidate in the September 21, 2024 Edo governorship election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, are at the tribunal challenging the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo of the APC.
At the opening of their case, Ighodalo and the PDP tendered over one thousand documents, in support of their petition, alleging the poll was marred by irregularities.
