Terrorists, in several attacks on military formations and highways in Borno and Adamawa States have killed at least 56 soldiers dead and wounded 28 others between January and March 2026.
Daily Trust reports gave the break down as follows: On January 4, insurgents ambushed troops along the Damasak–Kareto road and killed six soldiers and wounding five others; two weeks later, on January 19, a suicide bomber hit the notorious Timbuktu Triangle, killing five soldiers.
Also on January 23 eight soldiers were killed in Damasak town, another five in Wajirko village along the Maiduguri–Damboa–Biu road on January 29.
Six soldiers were killed on February 6 in Auno, near Jakana; ten days later, the terrorists attacked a military base in Cross Kauwa village, Baga LGA, murdering eight soldiers and wounding 23 others.
In Adamawa State, three soldiers were killed at Garaha military base in Hong LGA on February 24; four days later, four more soldiers were killed at Mayanti base in Bama LGA of Borno State.
Aslo on March 4, nine soldiers were killed in the Ngoshe community, Gwoza LGA, while another soldier was killed in Konduga on March 6.
Just three days later, on March 9, insurgents struck Kukawa LGA again, killing one soldier.
