After Jadon Sancho scored his first goal since September to help Manchester United hold Leeds to a 2-2 draw, Erik ten Hag predicted that Sancho would shine for the remainder of the season. After missing a lot of time owing to what Ten Hag called “circumstances with fitness and mood,” Sancho played his first game since October 22 when he entered the match against Nottingham Forest earlier this month.
The England international came on as a second-half substitute on Wednesday with United trailing 2-0 after Wilfried Gnonto’s opening goal and Raphael Varane’s own goal. Marcus Rashford’s 20th goal of the year, though, cut the deficit in half before Sancho’s shot eluded Illan Meslier and prevented managerless Leeds from earning their first league victory at Old Trafford since 1981. Ten Hag expressed his expectations for the future while introducing Sancho, adding, “I wanted a different dynamic. We weren’t playing the game at that point.
