A murder suspect Abdullahi Yusuf who strangled a man in order to steal his cell phone has been ordered by the Grade I Area Court in Karu, FCT, on Thursday to be remanded in Keffi correctional centre pending sentencing.
The police charged Yusuf, 18, with criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, and theft.
Justice Inuwa Maiwada, adjourned the case to November for sentencing following a guilty plea entered by the suspect.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju said on Sept. 5 Yusuf and others at large, conspired and strangled the complainant using an electric cable.
Adeyanju explained that said Yusuf intended to steal the complainant’s techno cell phone worth N11, 000, adding that the defendant and the other suspects threw caution to the wind in their plan to snuff life out of the complainant .
The prosecutor said the matter was reported at the Nyanya Police Station by Isiaku Yusuf of Karu village, Abuja.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97, 250 and 290 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
