The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha is expected to appear before a seven-member committee on Monday to defend the allegations of insubordination, indiscipline and anti-party activities levelled against him.
This is sequel to a petition against the party flag bearer submitted to the Mararaba, Donga Local Government ward executives of the APC where Bwacha belongs.
A March 8, 2023 letter signed by all the Mararaba, Donga Local Government ward executives of the APC, which gave the order, equally suspended and directed Bwacha to “suspend the related illegal activities (campaign).
The Mararaba, Donga Local Government ward executives of the APC, did not however, name the petitioner(s).
The letter warned Bwacha that failure to honour the invitation to appear before the Committee would attract ‘heavy consequences’ against him.
Bwacha wa suspended after a contentious Federal High Court judgment ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize him as the governorship candidate of APC in Taraba State.
The Supreme Court had sacked Bwacha on the grounds that the party did not conduct a valid primary.
According to the suspension letter, the Ward Executives of APC in Mararraba Ward, is in possession of a petition dated February 22, 2023 with series of complaints against Bwacha, specifically accusing him of indiscipline, misconduct, and for all intent and purposes pursuant to Article 21 of the APC constitution. The letter complained of Bwacha’s insubordination to the chairman of APC Donga Local Government, Hon. Habu Abdul Rahman as per the judgment of the Federal High Court in Suit No. FHC/CS/13/2022; disobedience to the Supreme Court judgment delivered in the case of CHIEF David Sabo Kente Vs Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha on February 1 2023, and infraction on the Electoral Act 2022 and Article 21(ix) of the APC constitution 2022, among others.
The letter futher said those conducts were capable of bringing the party into hatred, ridicule and disrepute, contrary to Article 21 (ii) of the party’s constitution.
“The party is dissatisfied with your erring conducts; disobedience to the Supreme Cofurt judgment, infraction on the Electoral Act, and infamous conducts capable of bringing the party into hatred, ridicule and disrepute,” the letter further noted.
The seven-man fact-finding and disciplinary committee has 14 days within which to submit the reportof its assignment.
He was admonished to appear before the disciplinary committee unfailingly to be accorded fair hearing.
