The All Progressives Congress (APC), Mararaba Ward, in Donga Local Government Area in Taraba State, has denied suspending Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
The rebuttal was contained in a statement entitled “Re-Suspension of Sen Emmanuel Bwacha from the All Progressives Congress,” and dated 12 March, 2023 and signed by the Dankwa Ishaya Avum’s 27 member-led exco of the Mararaba ward.
It would be recalled that there were reports that the Mararaba ward chapter of the APC had suspended Bwacha on the grounds of anti-party activities, insubordination and indiscipline.
Bwacha was reportedly asked to discontinue his campaign and appear before a seven-member fact-finding team to answer the said charges, just the said exco warned that he would face ‘heavy consequences’ if he fails to appear before the disciplinary team.
The latest letter affirmed Bwacha as the flag bearer of the state APC and assured that he would coast to victory in the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections.
The letter described Bwacha as “a loyal, financial and supportive member of the APC at the ward, local government, state and national levels.”
The APC said the party is one indivisible united family in the Mararaba ward with no faction, adding that “the members of the Executive Committee of Mararaba Ward has never and will not contemplate suspending Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha as a loyal party man.”
The Avum exco denied knowing the other exco, saying “we are not unaware that some desperate elements who are engaged in a fruitless and futile attempt of stopping Bwacha from emerging as the candidate of the party are behind this propaganda to score a cheap political goal of remaining relevant in the eyes of the gullible but we state categorically that these individuals have indeed chosen failure as a career.”
