Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has urged members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to resist any attempt to disrupt the voting process during the forthcoming elections in the state.
Speaking at the PDP’s stakeholders meeting on Thursday, Tambuwal told them to wait and protect their votes after voting.
“I want you come out and vote and after voting, wait and protect your vote. Protect it up to the Collation centre.
“If anybody attempt to distrupt the process, arrest him, tight him with rope and detain him until the election is over,” he said
The Chairman of the party, Bello Goronyo however, urged members of the party to pay whoever come to distrupt the election in his own coin.
“Come out and vote and make sure your vote is protected. Anybody that insult you, insult him. Whoever beat you, beat him too because we don’t trust security agents any longer. They were there when all these violence were taking place and did nothing to stop them,” he said
The running mate of the PDP’s Governorship candidate, Sagiru Bafarawa lsaid they were ready to sacrifice their lives to protect their votes.
The former Minister of Water Resources, Mukhtari Shagari urged the members not to be demoralized by the outcome of the last Presidential and National Assembly election and continue to work for the success of the party during the rerun and Governorship election in the state.
