Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule on Tuesday asked Tilley Gyado & Co Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the 18km Gudi/Moroa rural road, to expedite action on the project or loss handling government project in the state.
Sule said this when he visited the site to witness the progress of work being executed by the contractor.
He observed that the contractor mobilised few equipment to site, which he said could affect the time of completion of the project.
The governor, therefore, directed the contractor to simultaneously begin concrete and earth works, with a view to making visible progress.
“I am from Gudi and I know this road too well. Communication between Moroa and Gudi is cut off at the peak of the rainy season,” he said.
“We must be able to make the road accessible and for people to see that we are making progress on the project.”
Sule further directed the contractor to complete all the culverts on the road, particularly the four-box culvert at Angwan Sabo, which he said has made it impossible for people of the area to move from one community to another.
Representative of the company, Jack Tilley Gyado, assured the governor that his firm has the required equipment to handle the project, adding that he will mobilise more equipment from Jos, Plateau to the site.
Gyado promised to carry out both the concrete and earth works simultaneously, pledging to complete the project and hand it over to the state government by March next year.
