A suicide bomber has been arrested while trying to blow Kasuwan Fara area of Borno State.
Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, The Director, Defence Media Operations revealed that the troops of the Joint Task Force attached to Operation Hadin Kai in the North East arrested the bomber.
Gen. Dan Adams said soldiers, while conducting various offensive operations upon an intelligence that identified terrorists’ hideouts, enclaves, camps, villages, forest and mountains, also arrested 22 logistics suppliers to members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists.
He said that the insurgents’ hideouts were thoroughly raided between May 18 and June 1 during the operation jointly conducted by the air component of the operation.
Danmadami said Konduga, Abadam, Guzamala, Ngala, Bama, Dikwa, Gubio, Damboa, Jere, Kukawa, Magumeri and Monguno LGAs in the state were the towns the terrorists were being rooted out on a daily basis.
He said, “During these operations troops made contact with terrorists and following a fierce firefight, troops neutralized 25 Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists and recovered 7 AK-47 rifles.
“Troops also neutralized 26 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, including 1 suicide bomber, arrested 22 terrorist logistics supplier, 2 Terrorist spy/informants, and captured 1 Boko Haram terrorist fighter as well as apprehended 3 armed robbers and 52 suspected criminals.”
Danmadami also said the troops rescued 16 abducted civilians while 876 terrorists and members of their families comprising 89 adult males, 249 adult females and 538 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the theatre of operations.
