Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has said former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is key to the region’s ultimate decision as regards who led the country in 2023.
Akeredolu described the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the ‘Capo’ of the South, noting that he is instrumental to the region’s stand ahead of 2023.
The national leader is presently on medical trip on to the United Kingdom.
“We are praying that he returns back on time, He’s the capo for us here in the south west and south south. So we are waiting for him to come, so that by the time he comes, we can make some important decisions and he’ll support us,” Akeredolu said.
The Southern governors have at their various fora insisted that the next president must come from from the region.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the Ondo State Governor said although his party, the APC reserved the right to decide who the candidate will be at it’s level, but the South alongside Tinubu will meet to harmonize it’s position on the critical issue.
