A latest billionaire rankings list released by financial magazine, Forbes, indicates that South African billionaire, Johann Rupert & Family, have emerged as the richest man in Africa, dislodging Aliko Dangote.
The list further showed that Nigerian billionaires; Rabiu Abdulsamad and Mike Adenuga also lost their spots in the billionaire rankings.
In the list, the Forbes Daily billionaires ranking platform, which tracks daily changes to the net worth of the most high-net-worth individuals across the world showed that Aliko Dangote moved down to second position as his wealth decreased from $13.5 billion in 2023 to $9.5 billion in the start of 2024.
Even though Rupert & Family’s wealth went down from $10.7 billion to $10.3 billion, the South African billionaire emerged Africa’s richest man with the decrease of the wealth of Dangote from $13.5 billion to $9.5 billion.
Adenuga moved to the tenth position, while Patrice Motsepe, who was in the top ten in 2023, didn’t make the top ten list for 2024. This is just as no woman made the top ten richest list for the review period.
