Adamawa Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man identified as Nicodemus Ignatius for allegedly beating his 75-year-old father to death.
The suspect, who hails from Unguwan Bistel in Song town, Song Local Government Area, killed his father on March 3, 2022 after returning from a beer parlour.
Nicodemus was arrested in November last year for threatening to kill his father. He was, however, released at the prompting of his father.
The suspect, it was learned, returned that fateful evening from his drinking spree wielding a stick and pounced on his father and hit him with the stick, breaking his head which resulted in his death.
Nicodemus had confessed to the police that he committed the crime under the influence of marijuana.
“I smoked Indian hemp on that fateful day and bitterly regret my action,” the suspect said.
Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
