Some soldiers of Operation Lafiya Dole on Friday protested their deployment to a location in the frontlines in the ongoing war against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terroists.
The soldiers cited poor equipment and non payment of their allowances as reasons for their protest.
A mility source said besieged the headquarters of the Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole, the military operations of the counter-insurgecy war in North east Nigeria, located in Maiduguri, Borno State, shooting sporadically into the air on Thursday night after their deployment.
Some of the soldiers told journalists that a whole unit that went for reinforcement during an attack in Marte were killed due to superior firepower of the terrorists.
The Media Coordinator for Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel Ado Isa, confirmed the incident.
He said there was a minor issue bothering on troops welfare and administration, which has been addressed.
However, Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima is yet to respond to the incident.
