Five youths returning from a wedding ceremony in Garin-Baka in Taraba state were killed by army at Bassa village in Ardo-kola local area of the state.
The incident happened on Thursday when the army on patrol assumed they were kidnappers and opened fire on them killing five of them instantly.
21st Century Chronicle learnt that a survivor, identified as Umar, said he and his friends riding motorcycles back to their village, Basa, ran into a group of soldiers.
He said on sighting the convoy of their motorcycles, the soldiers opened fire on them.
He said he escaped into the bush but his friend Habu Yerima who conveyed him on his motorcycle was not lucky as he was hit by a bullet and died instantly.
The army said it was a mistaken identify but the parents insisted that the army killed their children.
The five corpses were deposited by the Army at Federal Medical centre Jalingo mortuary.
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Leha Reform, is yet to respond on the incident.
