Five bandits were killed on Saturday during a fierce battle with troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in the bandits’ hideouts within the borders of Nasarawa and Benue state.
Sources said the bandits had, around 4am on Saturday, killed scores in an attack on Anune village in Makurdi local government area.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE learnt that ground troops with the support of the Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunship invaded the bandits den at around 9am on Saturday and killed five of them during gun duel.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Catherine Anene, confirmed the attack on Anune village, but said she was not sure of the casualty.
