The 17-year- old girl battered by her step mother will soon get justice as the wife of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Mariya Tambuwal, has directed the Commissioner of Justice to investigate the matter and prosecute the culprits.
The girl, a daughter of a retired Comptroller of Customs and Ajiyan Kabi, Alhaji Abdullahi Argungu, was said to have been beaten with a pestle by her step mother over alleged theft and lack of observing daily prayers, among others.
She suffered fractures on her hand because of the gruesome acts.
However, Mrs Tambuwal urged the Sokoto State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Mr. Sulaiman Usman, SAN, to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and prosecute all parties involved.
“It is the inalienable responsibility of parents to take good care of their wards, for they will surely account before God Almighty. Relevant authorities are duty-bound to do what is right in dealing with irresponsible guardians.
“The perpetrator’s act is a huge disgrace for someone who is presumed to have the young girl’s best interest and take appropriate measures to ensure that she gets treated fairly regardless of her biological mother’s absence in the house” Dr. Mariya said.
She directed her pet project, MTDI, to collaborate with the Human Rights Commission and follow up the investigation and eventual prosecution of all parties involved in the alleged grotesque molestation by the victim’s step-mother.
