Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state has donated 10 patrol vehicles to the military.
The donation came after the military launched operation “Fansan Yamma'” aimed at salvaging the Northwest Nigeria from banditry.
He told visiting Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mutawalle on Saturday, that his government has so far donated over100 patrol vehicles to security agencies to restore peace in the eastern part of the state which was bedevilled by banditry.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to end insecurity in the northwestern region.
“We appreciate the concern shown by the President over the plight of our people.
“I have been meeting him over the state of insecurity in our dear state and he always assures me of his support.
“Mr President has redeemed his pledged by sending the Honourable Minister and service chiefs and Alhamdullahi, we are seeing the results., we thank Mr President most sincerely” he stated
The Governor however, reassured his commitment in offering a helping hand to the security agencies so that together they could secure the state.
The Governor also vowed to commit the state’s resources to guarantee the safety of lives and property of people of the state.
“Security is number one in my nine-point agenda, therefore, we would do whatever it takes within the ambit of the law to protect our people,” he vowed.
Responding, Matawalle said the presidential directive that they relocate to Sokoto was as result of an intense pressure the Governor had been mounting on the President on the need to come to the rescue of the state.
