The Sokoto state government has distributed 500 wheelchairs to People Living With Disability in the state.
It also increased the monthly allowance given to destitute in the state by 25 percent.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu disclosed this during the 2024 International Day for People Living with Disability celebration held on Wednesday.
He said the monthly allowance was increased from N6,500 to N10,000 for the 6,679 beneficiaries.
The governor also promised to increase the number of the beneficiaries to 10,000 soonest.
“We redeemed our pledge of restoring allowances for destitute and reviewing it upward to N10,000,” he said.
