Alhaji Tukur Bala (APC- Bodinga South), and Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim (APC-Kware) on Tuesday emerged as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State 10th Assembly.
This development followed the election of the duo at the inauguration of the newly elected lawmakers after the presentation of dissolution and proclamation letters by Gov. Ahmad Aliyu of the state.
Aliyu in the letters presented by Malam Bello Tambuwal, the Clerk to the state Assembly, requested for the dissolution of the 9th Assembly and Inauguration of the 10th Assembly, respectively.
The speaker and his deputy were elected unopposed after their nominations by Bello Idris (APC-Gwadabawa North) and Aminu Al-Mustapha (APC-Sabon Birni North), respectively.
The nominations were seconded by Alhaji Habibu Modachi (PDP-Isa) and Alhaji Buhari Haliru (PDP-Sokoto North), respectively.
Bala appreciated his colleagues for their confidence in him to lead the 10th Assembly in the state.
The speaker, aged 47 years, assured the members of his determination and will to ensure the best legislation that is qualitative and all inclusive.
“We will ensure a state Assembly that will work closely with all the legislators and staff of the Assembly.
“This is in order to support the government achieve its desired objective and responsibilities toward the best governance that will be acceptable to all citizens,” he said. (NAN)
