Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a welfare package for the father of the woman and six children killed in Chiranci Dorayi, including sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house and full government support.
The decision was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, after Governor Yusuf paid a condolence visit to the family.
The governor described the incident as tragic and assured the bereaved father of continued state support to help him rebuild his life. He directed that a befitting house be allocated to him and said the government would also support his welfare, including assistance to remarry if he so wishes.
Governor Yusuf also ordered the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track the prosecution of suspects arrested in connection with the killings, stressing that justice must be served. He said anyone found guilty would face the full weight of the law, adding that similar action would apply to other high-profile cases once courts deliver their verdicts.
The governor, according to the statement, commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for their swift response that led to the arrest of suspects.
In appreciation, the bereaved father reportedly donated his personal house to the state government for the construction of an Islamiyya school for the Chiranci community and the governor prayed for Allah to grant eternal rest to the deceased and comfort their families.
