December is often an interesting month for the Box office since some of the biggest Nollywood films release right when people are looking for something to see during the end of year holidays.
21st CENTRURY CHRONICALE has made a list of some of the most interesting movies to watch in the coming month.
The StandUp
The StandUp, produced by Peekaboo Productions and directed by Jide Oyegbile, tells the story of an electrician who travels from Warri to Lagos in an effort to advance his career and free his sister, who is being held hostage as a result of the debts racked up by his deceased father.
Richard Ayodeji Makun (AY), Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Anita Asuoha (RealWarriPikin), Jide Kosoko, Mofe Duncan, Dibor Adaobi Lillian, Stephanie Zibili, Paul Olope, and Eso Dike are just a few of the movie’s amazing cast members. The StandUp has its national premiere on December 2, 2022.
U-Turn
In “U-Turn,” Gabriel Afolayan plays a passenger who struggles with problems with Olaiya Igwe, his cab driver, while keeping their true motives hidden from one another. Cast members include Jide Kosoko, Muyiwa Adegoke, Ebun Oloyede, Mama No Network, and Tina Mba under the direction of Gabriel Afolayan and Uche Agbambu.
The movie, which was made by Studio 6 Multimedia Limited, will debut on Netflix on December 2, 2022
Palava
Richard Mofe Damijo portrays Osage Idehen, a well-known musician with five lovely daughters, in Niyi Akinmolayan’s most recent film, “Palava!” The topic of the film is how his love of ladies often gets him into trouble and drama. On the eve of his 60th birthday, a scandal is exposed, upending his life and that of his family.
Linda Ejiofor, Bisola Aiyeola, Jemima Osunde, Beverly Naya, Beverly Osu, Chinedu Ikedieze, Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Eniola Badmus, Omawumi Megbele, Gideon Okeke, and BB Naija star Neo Akpofure are all featured in “Palava!” The film, which was made by Inkblot Productions, will open in theaters on December 9.
Rising: City Of Dreams
City of Dreams” focuses on two parties who engage in a gangster-instigated conflict over control of a market. The film, which was produced and directed by Wale Muraina and was filmed in Oshodi, Lagos, demonstrates the power struggle among Nigerian politicians.
The cast also includes Bolaji Amusan, Reminisce, Slimcase, DJ Neptune, Yakubu Mohammed, Zubby Michael, Femi Branch, and Yvonne Jegede. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 9, 2022.
Battle On Buka Street
The film, which is jointly produced by Funke Ayotunde Akindele Network (FAAN) and FilmOne Entertainment, is the story of two ladies competing in a food battle for the title of “King of Buka Streets,” the greatest local food vendor.
Femi Jacobs, Mercy Johnson, Kelvin Ikeduba, Bimbo Ademoye, Tina Mba, Sola Sobowale, Nkem Owoh, and Tobi Makinde, who is also the co-director of the film, are all featured in the cast. On December 16, 2022, the film debuts.
‘Ijakumo’ (The Born-Again Stripper)
Ijakumo (The Born-Again Stripper), a thriller produced by Toyin Abraham and written by Kehinde Joseph, following the daughter of a powerful spiritualist who is out to end the life of her ex-lover, a well-known pastor of a mega-church, who dumped her and left her to die. She collaborates with a stripper and a choir director to carry out her revenge strategy on her ex-lover.
Kolawole Ajeyemi, Lolade Okusanya, Kunle Remi, Lillian Afegbai, Olumide Oworu, and Eso Dike are among the cast members under the direction of Toyin Abraham. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on December 23, 2022.
