Popular Nigerian Reggae and Blues singer and songwriter, Harrysong, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force.
He was arrested in Lagos Tuesday and detained at the Airport Police Command in Lagos.
Harrysong was apprehended immediately after he landed in Nigeria following a petition by music executive, Soso Soberekon to the Inspector General of Police.
Confirming his detention, the singer via his social media account wrote, “I got arrested as I landed in Lagos, my phone has been seized, and they won’t allow me to communicate with my people.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest.
“He is currently in our custody and writing his statement,” the PPRO simply said.
Harryson’s arrest comes a week after he stated in a podcast, Frankly Speaking, hosted by media personalities, Nedu, Husband Material, Toun, and Naomi, that Soberekon sent hired killers to him.
He was immediately slammed with a lawsuit by Soberekon.
In the notice posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Soberekon asked for a retraction of the statement, an apology and N500,000,000 for compensation.
Replying to the lawsuit, the singer took to his social media account and wrote, “You dey sue me for social media. Dem ask you question? Abi you sef go for interview? With your small prick and flat blockus. Empty konkom. You go chi chun thing.” (sic)
Speaking on the allegation, the singer’s talent manager posted, “As a matter of fact, I always mind my business, stay on my lane and put smile on people’s faces. It is very disappointing that Harrysong will make such a false, reckless and defamatory statement.
