Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, are some of the top dignitaries that attended the funeral prayers of the mother of the former INEC Chairman Professor Attahiru Jega, on Saturday.
Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Muhammadu Jega died Friday night at the age of 86 in Abuja after a brief illness.
She is also the mother of famous Nigerian journalist, editor and columnist, Malam Mahmud Jega; and former Executive Director of AMCON, Abbas Jega.
The funeral prayers of the deceased, held at the National Mosque by 1:30pm, was attended by ministers, presidential advisers, diplomats, former governors, heads of agencies, among hundreds other Muslim faithfuls.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu; the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations, Professor Muhammad Bande; Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Office of the Vice President, Dr Modibbo Aliyu Umar, attended the funeral prayers.
Others are former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi; former Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Usman Nasamu Dakingari; and former Minister of Sports, Alhaji Yusuf Suleman.
There were also the Chairman of Daily Trust Group, Malam Kabiru Yusuf, NAHCON National Commissioner, Professor Umaru Ndagi, among others.
The late Hajiya Hauwa Kulu was interred at the Gudu Cemetery, Abuja immediately after the funeral prayers.
She is survived by many children and grand children.
