Senator Ibrahim Shekarau and other lawmakers from the Kano state have sent a petition to the Inspector General, Usman Baba Alkali over the track on Senator Barau Jibrin’s campaign office.
Hoodlums had on Thursday, set ablaze the campaign office of Senator Barau (APC, Kano North) located along Maiduguri road.
The attack came two days after an FCT High Court ruled in favour of the faction of the APC, belonging to Senator Shekarau’s camp over the ward congresses in the State.
A day after the ruling, the Kano State Government sealed up the chamber of Shekarau’s counsel who handled the case.
Senator Barau is among the federal lawmakers code-named G-7 in conflict with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje over the party’s leadership in the State.
The petition, dated December 2, was signed by Senator Shekarau (Kano Central), Senator Barau (Kano South), and four members of the House of Representatives including; Nasiru Abdua, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Shaaban Sharada and Haruna Isa Dederi.
They alleged that the attack on Barau’s campaign office was as a result of the November 30 judgement of the FCT High Court which sacked the executives of the APC faction belonging to the state government.
Kano APC reacts
However, the APC in Kano State through its Public Relations Officer, Ahmed S. Aruwa described the allegation as baseless and untrue.
He said some of the officials the group accused of involvement in the said attack have been out of the country for days, and wondered how they could possibly be part of the alleged violence.
He said APC and its members are law abiding and have conducted themselves in peaceful manner even in the face of provocations by the Shekarau camp.
